Privacy Policy
The short version. Better Morning is a personal morning-routine app that runs offline. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your personal data. Everything you enter stays on your device. We operate no servers and have no way to see your content.
What the app stores
The app stores the following locally on your device only, so it can show your routine, history, and settings:
- Morning routine content you configure — protocol steps, principles / constitution, keystone tasks.
- Journaling entries you write — your daily keystone task and reason, and your evening reflection (mood, win, lesson, gratitude).
- Morning completion records — which days you completed your morning flow.
- App settings — your name (if you enter one), alarm time and repeat days, wake tone, snooze length, theme, and inspiration topic.
This data is saved using on-device storage — a local database and settings file on both platforms (Room and DataStore on Android, SwiftData and local files on iOS). It is never sent to us or to any third party: the app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking components, and no code that uploads your content anywhere.
Subscriptions and billing
Better Morning is sold as a subscription with a free trial. Purchases are handled entirely by the app store you installed it from — Google Play Billing on Android, Apple's App Store (StoreKit) on iOS. On both platforms:
- The app asks the store whether your subscription is active, and caches that yes/no answer on your device so the app opens instantly. That answer is the only thing exchanged.
- We never see or handle your payment details. Your card, billing address, and purchase history stay between you and Google or Apple.
- None of your routine content, journaling, or history is ever included in this exchange.

Permissions and why they are used
Android- Exact alarms (
USE_EXACT_ALARM/SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM) — to ring your morning alarm at the exact time you set. - Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — to show the alarm and its ongoing notification. - Full-screen intent (
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT) — to show the alarm screen when your phone is locked. - Foreground service / media playback (
FOREGROUND_SERVICE,FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK) — to keep the alarm sound playing reliably once it goes off. - Vibrate (
VIBRATE) and wake lock (WAKE_LOCK) — to vibrate and wake the screen for the alarm. - Receive boot completed (
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — to re-arm your alarm after the phone restarts. - Ignore battery optimizations (
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS) — optional, and only requested so the alarm still fires while the device is in Doze. You can decline it.
- Alarms (AlarmKit) — to schedule and ring your morning alarm at the exact time you set, and to show it on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
- Notifications — to show your evening reminder.
The app requests no access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, files, or any other personal data source, on either platform. None of the permissions above are used to collect or transmit personal data.
Data sharing
We do not share your data with anyone, because we never receive it. There are no third-party analytics SDKs and no advertising networks in the app. The only third-party component is the app store billing system described above (Google Play Billing on Android, the App Store on iOS).
Backups
If you have your device's automatic backup enabled, the app's local data may be included in it — Android in your Google Account backup, iOS in your iCloud Backup. Either way, that backup is managed by Google or Apple under your own account, not by us, and we never receive or access it. You can disable backups in your device's system settings.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
Deleting your data
Because all data is stored locally, you can permanently delete it at any time by uninstalling the app — on Android you can also clear its storage instead, in your device's app settings. Either way, everything the app stored goes with it. There is nothing on our side to request the deletion of.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same URL with a new effective date.
