Day Launch: one direction, one move.

The ritual used to end with one vague task prompt. Day Launch asks two smaller questions that are easier to answer and easier to remember.

A good morning routine can still leave you standing at the edge of the day with no idea what the day is for. Finishing a timer is satisfying, but it is not direction. Writing a long plan is direction of a sort, but it turns the final minute of a ritual into another productivity system.

Day Launch sits between those two extremes. It closes the morning with one direction and one move.

First, choose the kind of day you need

The first screen offers seven directions: make progress, take care of yourself, connect, lighten your load, create something, make room for joy, or recover. They are deliberately broad. The point is not to classify the day perfectly; it is to notice what matters before the urgent things start voting.

Then Better Morning asks for a single recognizable move. If the direction is connection, the move might be “Call Dad after lunch.” If it is progress, it might be “Send the first draft.” If it is recovery, protecting an empty evening can be enough.

The test is simple: by tonight, can you tell whether you moved in the direction you chose? If the answer is clear, the move is specific enough.

The evening answer is allowed to be human

At the time you choose, the home screen can ask how that move went. The answers are done, partly, and not today. A binary checkbox would turn every interrupted day into a failure. “Partly” records the far more common truth: something moved, even if it did not close.

The notification is optional. The check-in itself remains part of the day when you open Better Morning after the chosen time. A separate evening reminder can also warn you when tomorrow has no alarm set. Each reminder has its own switch and time because preparing tomorrow and closing today are different jobs.

A journal made from decisions, not blank pages

Every kept morning, named move and evening outcome gathers in the journal. There is no demand to write an essay. Over time, the record answers useful questions on its own: Which mornings did you keep? What did you repeatedly choose? Which kinds of days needed recovery rather than more effort?

The full record can be exported as a local archive and restored later. The same archive format works across Android and iPhone. Better Morning never receives it; the file goes only to the location you select.

The day is yours

After Day Launch, the app does not offer a dashboard to optimize or a feed to scroll. It hands the move back to you and gets out of the way. The morning has done its work when the next action is clearer than the screen.
